My Background

I have lived in Colorado most of my life. I love living in this beautiful state and plan to live here the rest of my life. I enjoy snowshoeing, hiking, rollerblading and time spent with my wife, family, and friends (and my 3-year-old Tibetan Terrier, Quinn who is my emotional support animal).

Meet Quinn

I grew up in a small town in Illinois. My mother moved us to Arizona after losing my father in an auto accident. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Majoring in Computer Information Systems. Many years of working as a software developer in Arizona, Alabama, Georgia and Texas eventually brought me to Colorado. I telecommuted out of my home for 22 years. So, I include 30+ years of corporate world background to my life experience. I know how hard this work environment can be and the stress it brings to our lives.

I found satisfaction in life by helping others. I volunteered in a homeless shelter for 15 years, mentored inmates in prisons for 10 years, took vacation time from my corporate jobs and traveled to Mexico and built cinder-block homes for families in the slums of Juarez for 6 years. I picked up days end bakery goods and dropped them off at food banks, shelters and half-way houses for 5 years. I love this quote from Albert Einstein: “Only a life lived for others is worth living.” I bring that philosophy to my work as a counselor to you, my clients.

In my mid-fifties, I entered graduate school at Regis University in the Masters in Counseling program. I completed my internship year at an agency providing therapy to domestic violence offenders, victims, and children. This began the transition of my life from the corporate world and in fields of technology to counseling those who need a little help navigating the challenges of life. I graduated from my master’s program in 2012. I love this work and making connections with my clients. I see my role as advocate, advisor, and sounding board on this counseling journey we take together.

O Yeah, What Kind of Name is TANOM?

I chose the name TANOM for my practice as an acronym that represents my life’s philosophy that each and every breath we take and experience is a gift with value that should be observed and appreciated. To me, life is about living in this present moment.
